Description
B-23 Lamp Driver board
This lamp driver board is compatible with the Bally (AS-2518-14 and AS-2518-23) and the Stern (LDB-100) one.
To be fully functional, it is necessary to connect the J5 connector of the board to the TP1 (5.4V) test point of the Rectifier board or to the J1 pin 3 connector of the PinStar Rectifier board.
Main Features:
Fully compatible with conventional bulbs or LED bulbs

Troubleshooting
Open the front door and press the SELF-TEST button once. All switched lamps should flash off and on continuously.
Check the test LEDs on the Lamp board
- If none of them are flashing, it means the connector J5 is probably not connected to the 5.4V (TP1 on the rectifier board)
- If a test LED on a thyristor is always OFF or always ON, then the thyristor is faulty and should be replaced.
- If a test LED flashes but the lamp in the playfield (or Backbox) does not light, replace it with a new one. If it still not on, check if the 5.4V is present or if there’s no problem with the connector J1, J2 or J3
Flickering
The switched lamps are supplied with an unfiltered rectified voltage of 5.4V.
Filament bulbs have a certain inertia, so the luminous flux is constant.
With the LED bulbs that turn on and off directly, there are 2 concerns.
- The first is that the thyristor is not receiving enough current and turns off. This is solved with the addition of a resistor in parallel. This is what is included in the board.
- The second problem is LED flickering due to the unfiltered rectified voltage. That depends on the type of LED you have installed. I advise you to buy several samples and do some testing.
